Consultancy Advice
Historically, sponsoring companies have often used the same advisors as the trustees of the occupational pension scheme that they sponsor. This was partly on the grounds of economy. It was also an implicit recognition of the significant community of interest between the members of schemes and their sponsoring employers. However, there is a realisation that in certain circumstances there is a potential, or actual, conflict of interest in using the same advisors. This is particularly the case in relation to funding issues.
Skottowe & Associates have the expertise to act for sponsoring employers by:
- Reviewing the structure of existing occupational pension arrangements;
- Commenting on the governance of occupational pension schemes;
- Negotiating with trustees regarding funding and investment issues;
- Advising on company accounting issues associated with pensions;
- Managing the implementation of changes to existing pension arrangements;
- Liaising and dealing with The Pensions Regulator.
To avoid unnecessary expense and duplication of costs, we will work constructively with the trustees’ professional advisors, using information provided by them whenever this is possible.
